Twenty-two-year-old Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) may not have a job, but rocking the bass for his band, Sex Bob-Omb, is a tough job in itself. When Scott locks eyes with Ramona V. Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), he knows she's the girl he wants to grow old with. But Ramona has some serious baggage; her supercharged exes rue the thought of her being with another man, and they'll crush any guy who gives her a second glance. Now, in order to win Ramona's heart, Scott will do battle with everyone from vegan-powered rock gods to sinister skateboarders, never losing sight of his gorgeous goal as he pummels his way to victory.

Shaun of the Dead's Edgar Wright, working without usual collaborator Simon Pegg, directs the film from a script he co-wrote with Michael Bacall. Superhero veterans Chris Evans and Brandon Routh co-star in the action comedy as two of the seven ex-boyfriends. Wright also recruited Beck to write original songs for Pilgrim's band, while artists such as Metric and Broke

The Girl Who Played With Fire (15) @ Dundee Contemporary Arts Cinema

For any of you who haven't read The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, or who missed seeing the previous instalment of Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy, The Girl Who Played With Fire conveniently opens with a summing-up and introduction to our heroine Lisbeth Salander (Noomi Rapace) and the gruesome acts of revenge she took in her first outing.

Mikael Blomkvist, crusading journalist and publisher of the magazine 'Millennium', has decided to run a story that will expose an extensive sex trafficking operation between Eastern Europe and Sweden, implicating well known and highly-placed members of Swedish society, business, and government. But he has no idea just how explosive the story will be until, on the eve of publication, the two investigating reporters are murdered. And even more shocking for Blomkvist: the fingerprints found on the murder weapon belong to Lisbeth Salander - the troubled, wise-beyond-her-years genius hacker who came to his aid in the first of the series, and who now becomes the focus and fierce heart of The Girl Who Played with Fire. As Blomkvist, alone in his belief in Salander's innocence, plunges into an investigation of the slayings, Salander herself is drawn in

D'Arcy Thompson Zoology Museum Summer Openings @ University of Dundee, D'Arcy Thompson Zoology Museum

As part of our 150th anniversary celebrations of the birth of DArcy Thompson, Dundee's pioneer of Life Sciences, the University's Zoology Museum is open for the summer on Friday afternoons, 2pm-4.30pm. She begins suffering from painful migraines and sudden fainting spells. But when the Valdezes propose hiring a second maid to relieve Raquel of some of her responsibilities, she takes it as a declaration of war.

One by one the reinforcements arrive, only to meet the full force of Raquel's passive-aggression. Au pair Mercedes is locked out of the house and Raquel violently scours the bathroom after she showers until the young Peruvian girl runs away in tears. Her replacement, a grizzled lifer, puts up more of a fight - literally - only to eventually head for the hills. But the third time proves something like a charm in the form of Lucy (Mariana Loyola), who is either immune to Raquel's offensives or, perhaps, a little bit crazy herself. When Raquel tries the old bathroom-scouring routine on her, Lucy responds by giving her a tearful bear hug; when Raquel locks her out, she seizes the opportunity for some impromptu nude sunbathing on the lawn.

An English writer (William Shimmel) arrives to give a reading from his recent bestseller. He is interrupted by a French woman (Juliette Binoche) in the audience who is trying to manage her impatient teenage son. When the couple meet again, they decide to spend the day together, exploring the neighbouring countryside. Slowly we begin to wonder, have they been on this journey before? Are they a reliving a past relationship or just flirting with a potential one?

A director in complete control, Kiarostami expertly moves the two actors around the board like chess pieces. Binoche, who won the Best Actress prize at Cannes for her work here, is paired with Shimmel, a well-known opera singer in his first traditional acting role, who holds his own against an actress very much at the top of her game.

Despite the description, Certified Copy is not remotely a dry intellectual exercise. For one thing, it looks beautiful, bathed in a warm, golden Tuscan glow. And there's a playfulness to the film, from the script to th

Similar Variance / The Floating World @ Dundee Contemporary Arts

Mary Redmond and Sara Mackillop present new works in a two person exhibition.

James Morrison Exhibition @ Kinblethmont Gallery

For the first time James Morrison will show a collection of new work in Angus in a one man show at Kinblethmont Gallery. This exhibition is a joint venture between Katherine Snell and the South Georgia Heritage Trust who promote for the public benefit, the conservation and protection of the physical and natural environment and surrounding waters of South Georgia - and advance the education of the public in the island's historical heritage.

Katherine Snell, a Scottish Wildlife photographer and polar biologist, felt extremely privileged when she sailed to South Georgia to study and photograph it's wildlife. South Georgia is extremely mountains and over half of the island is glaciated. However it is a haven to extraordinary wildlife; beaches crowded with breeding seals and penguins, and great albatrosses cruising the skies above. Katherine was amazed and humbled by the spectacular scenery and abundance of wildlife and this exhibition depicts the beauty of South Georgia.

Orchar Collection @ Broughty Castle Museum

This display, which is a new permanent gallery for Broughty Castle, features 30 paintings from the Orchar Collection - a selection of portraits, landscapes and still lifes by artists of the Robert Scott Lauder Group, including William McTaggart, Hugh Cameron, George Paul Chalmers, John MacWhirter, John Pettie and William Quiller Orchardson. Penzotti...Anna, Eva, Rose, Gladys and La La had only two things in common when they met seven months ago: a park bench and a life well-lived. Through fond and sometimes painful memories, keen observations and a good belly laugh now and again, these gals are truly on the cusp of eighty going on eighteen. Described by one critic as "Sex in the City" on Sanatogen, John A Penzotti's script is littered with smart one liners. Hilarious, yet poignant.

The play, set between 1900-1908, when women began to pursue full equality through the women's movement, follows the rise of John Shand, from scholar to MP. However, its his wife Maggies impact that really sends his career soaring and as explained in the play itself, every woman knows that behind every successful man there is a woman pulling the strings - a fact that is unknown to John until the plays conclusion. Along the way a few sticks are thrown at the wheels of this traveling classic, but more or less its a straight road with a few bumps.
